Our Former Hazzan

It is with much sadness that we received the news from our long-time High holidays Hazzan, Rabbi Alan LaPayover, that he will no longer be able to be with us this year (5780/2019) and in the future.

We will miss Rabbi LaPayover’s mellifluous voice and warm personality that lifted our spirits during the special moments that he and Rabbi Fox created in our spiritual lives.

We wish Rabbi LaPayover and Russ all the best; you are always welcome, whether on the Bimah or among the congregation.

Thank you for a dozen amazing High Holidays seasons!

Meet our 5779/2018 High Holiday Hazzan, Rabbi Alan LaPayover!

We are excited to welcome back to our congregation for the High Holy Days as Hazzan, Rabbi Alan LaPayover.

Rabbi LaPayover is recognized as an authority in Jewish prayer, particularly High Holy Day prayers.  A student and teacher of our religious heritage for more than 25 years, Rabbi LaPayover served as Associate Rabbi of Congregation Beth Am Israel in Penn Valley, PA, for more than 10 years.  He most recently held the pulpit position as the interim Rabbi for Tiferes Bnai Israel in Warrington, PA where he served as Kol Bo as well as the congregation’s spiritual leader for nearly two years. Utilizing his scholarly mind, Rabbi LaPayover has served as a librarian and, for several years, as the Director of the Goldyne Savad Library Center.  Rabbi Rabbi LaPayover’s warm voice and prayer melodies complement Rabbi Fox’s meaningful services filled with his thought-provoking sermons and kavanot (meditations).

When you join us for services, please make a point of introducing yourself to Rabbi LaPayover — let him know that we recognize that we are blessed to have him with us this year to share and welcome the Jewish New Year season.
