TBS Literary Society:

The TBS Literary Society met on Monday, August 14 both in-person at TBS and on Zoom (for those who were not able to join us in person) to review the book, Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen.

This political satire was well-received by the group as a good summer read; most agreed that they would need to know their audience before recommending it! The discussion was fun and engaging (and, of course, it was great being together!)

Our next book club read is scheduled for Monday, September 11`th both in person and on Zoom when we will review the book, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelly Van Pelt.   Remarkably Bright Creatures is a book that manages to be wry and wise, charming and surprising, and features one of the most intriguing and satisfying characters encountered in fiction in a very long time—Marcellus the Octopus.  You will not want to miss the book club discussion on this feel-good but deceptively sensitive and tender summer read.

On Monday, October 16th (rescheduled from November 13) we will read  Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus to align with the release of the new series with the same name.

Then, Count the Ways by Joy Maynard was added to be reviewed on Monday, November 13th. We will end our book club read for 2023 with The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Socumb on Monday, December 18th.

If you are not a member of this group, you are missing out on the opportunity for thought-provoking discussions on books from a variety of genres; please feel free to join us and check us out!  For more information, please feel free to contact me at Adulted@seashul.org.
