Temple Beth Shalom, Brigantine, proudly presents Dr. Harry Chaikin, M.D., FACP long-time Brigantine resident, TBS congregant and medical professional. Dr. Harry Chaikin will discuss the differences between palliative and hospice care.

Did you know that hospice provides comprehensive care for more than end-stage cancer patients?  Do you know how palliative care differs from hospice?  This talk is designed to explain when hospice is appropriate for a medical illness and what services are provided.  This talk, by Dr. Harry Chaikin will also review when palliative care may be a better option for a patient.

More about Dr. Harry Chaikin: Dr. Harry Chaikin, M.D., FACP is a retired internist and clinical geriatric medicine physician who practiced primary care medicine for over 38 years in Brigantine. He has held various leadership roles within the AtlantiCare Health System organization including president of the medical staff and member of AtlantiCare boards. With AtlantiCare he was a “champion” of the advance directive program. He has also served in leadership position with the Medical Society of New Jersey, the Atlantic County Medical Society, and the Bacharach Institute of Rehabilitation. He continues to serve as a medical director for LHC/AtlantiCare Hospice. In his new-found spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family including 6 grandchildren. His hobbies include   bicycling, sailing, gardening, art, and reading.
