Temple Beth Shalom proudly presents, Jewish Filmmakers and Their Indelible Brand of Comedy with Marc Lapadula on Sunday, January 10 from 2:00 -3:00 p.m.
Marc brings his energetic style and expertise to this engaging session that explores how a variety of Jewish directors have used their own unique brand of idiosyncratic Jewish Humor antithetical tone to get their social and political messages across, with resoundingly successful and influential results. Several fine examples of Jewish Humor will be explored in film clips that will include: THE BIRDCAGE, TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN, BLAZING SADDLES, THE GRADUATE, ANNIE HALL, THE PRODUCERS, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, AIRPLANE and other films.

Marc Lapadula, playwright and screenwriter, is an award-winning film producer and university lecturer. As Senior Lecturer at Yale University in The Film Studies Program, he has taught screenwriting seminars since 1992. His stage plays, including StripHer, Not by Name, Two Shakes, Men Like Us, Last Order, The Rains Change, Serial Killer, and In Uniform Thanksgiving, have been produced in New York (off-Broadway), England, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Iowa. Marc also has had several screenplays commission or optioned, including Distant Influence, At Risk, and screen adaptations of Mikhail Bulgakov’s Heart of a Dog and Miguel de Unamuno’s Saint Emmanuel the Good, Martyr.
