TBS Literary Society:

The TBS Literary Society met on Monday, May15th, both in-person at TBS and on Zoom (for those who were not able to join us in person.) We reviewed the book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. Our surprise moderator, Steve Sarratore, proved to be an instructive and informative guide through our provocative discussion based on this provocative book.  Well done, Steve!

Our next read, Funny Farm-My Unexpected Life with 600 Rescue Animals by Laurie Zaleski on  Monday, June 5th. An inspiring and moving memoir of the author’s turbulent life with 600 rescue animals.  Laurie Zaleski never aspired to run an animal rescue; that was her mother Annie’s dream. But from girlhood, Laurie was determined to make the dream come true. Thirty years later as a successful businesswoman, she did it, buying a 15-acre farm deep in the Pinelands of South Jersey and establishing the Funny Farm Animal Rescue outside Mays Landing, New Jersey. Today, she carries on Annie’s mission to save abused and neglected animals.

Hear Laurie’s amazing story of promises kept, dreams fulfilled, and animals lost and found from the author herself.  Laurie will be joining us on the 5th via Zoom so have your questions ready!  …and to follow-up this special meeting with the author, the TBS Literary Society will be visiting Laurie at her Funny Farm in Mays Landing on Tuesday, June 13th (details to follow.)

You will not want to miss the book club discussion or the visit to the Funny Farm.
