Temple Beth Shalom proudly announces the Kern Family Scholars Weekend to be held September 19-21, 2014. Rabbi Cantor Mark Novak and his wife, storyteller Renée Brachfeld, will be our guests for Shabbat through mid-day on Sunday. The schedule is as follows (All events except for Shabbat lunch ($10) are FREE and open to everyone, but for the Shabbat lunch and the Sunday workshops, we request an RSVP):

Saturday, September 20
12:00pm – Come share a Shabbat meal, a few songs, and maybe a story or two – bring your favorite or just sit back and enjoy! This is a perfect opportunity to get to know our visiting scholars, Rabbi Cantor Mark Novak and Renée Brachfeld!
$10 donation, RSVP required by September 15.
8:45pm – Join us for Havdalah and the Community-wide Selichot Program of a special blend of story and song led by Rabbi Cantor Novak and Renée Brachfeld.

12:45pm — Workshop on “Intergenerational Storytelling: Preserving Precious Memories” (Renée Brachfeld)
Rabbi Cantor Mark Novak has spent decades delighting audiences with his voice and music, in solo performances or with his bands. Renée Brachfeld is a noted storyteller whose works have been published in most prominent anthologies of Jewish Stories; she has performed in front of large audiences and small venues for many years. Together, these incredible talents have brought their unique blend of Jewish story, song, and learning to more than 130 synagogues and Jewish venues across North America.
