Author, Jacqueline Friedland presents her new novel Counting Backwards, Thursday, November 20th at 10:30 a.m.

Temple Beth Shalom is thrilled to hose one of the Marjorie & Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center (JCC), Arts Books & Culture Festival’s featured authors, Jacqueline Friedland, novelist of Counting Backwards on Thursday, November 20th at 10:30 a.m. at TBS.

This compelling dual-timeline novel links the 1927 Supreme Court case of Carrie Buck with a contemporary legal battle at an ICE detention center.  Through these intertwined stories, Friedland explores themes of reproductive rights, the eugenics movement, and the enduring societal expectations placed on women across generations.  Don’t miss the opportunity to hear the author discuss her powerful work.
